So many people are dealing with unhappy or stress filled lives. Here are a few suggestions to get your sh*t together:
GET BUSY Have you ever heard the saying, “idle hands are the devil’s playground?” It’s so true; idleness leads to overthinking, overanalysing and overstressing! If you find yourself bored, flipping through channels, playing video game after video game, that’s a clear sign that you need to get busy. Clean, cook, exercise, phone a friend, do something, anything! |
GET OUTSIDE People lead very sedentary lifestyles and have forgotten the importance of the great outdoors. Go for a hike in nature, plant a garden, take the dog for a walk or here’s a great one, plan a picnic. When was the last time you went apple or berry picking, enjoyed a campfire or walked the beach? Fresh air literally clears the mind especially when paired with deep breathing! |
SIMPLIFY Simplify your life especially if you find yourself running willy-nilly from event to event. Pick what is important to you and slow down so you can enjoy the moment. Simplify your surroundings. People have far too much clutter in their lives. Purging is a great way to simplify. Purge things you no longer need and purge people who aren’t a positive influence in your life. That may sound a little brutal but who needs either of those things? |
COMMUNICATE WITH FRIENDS I am not talking about texting or messaging, I am talking face-to-face meet ups with friends and family. Go for coffee, have a girl/guy’s night or meet for lunch. Share what’s on your mind and in your heart. Physical contact is important with others! Develop your social skills. |
DO SOMETHING YOU ENJOY Life is supposed to be fun. If you aren’t having fun then you aren’t doing something right. Think about the things that you enjoy, things that bring a smile to your face. It may be as easy as turning up the music and singing in the car or holding a baby. Maybe your idea of fun is sipping wine in a bubble bath, it doesn’t have to be complicated. |
GIVE BACK Paying it forward, a random act of kindness, volunteering or giving just because you can takes the focus off you and puts it on something larger than yourself. For whatever reason this makes a person feel good about themselves. You can find easy ways to give back to others that don't have to cost a dime. |
