Clutter not only involves the stuff that's in your space, but also the stuff that occupies your mind. Your outer world is a reflection of what is happening in your inner world. You can't have order and calmness on the inside if your surroundings are filled with chaos. Here are a few tips to help you de-clutter.
Tip 1: Don't try to tackle too large a project all at once. Start with a dresser, as opposed to an entire bedroom. Take on the dresser, when that's done, take on the closet, etc.
Tip 2: Bring in friends or family to help you. Sharing the load can make it more fun.
HOW TO CLEAR THE CLUTTER
1. Eliminate what is old and unnecessary - If you haven't used it in the last year, it may be time to recycle that item and give it away or sell it.
2. Straighten up the items you kept - Throwing things away definitely helps to simplify and let go, then you need to organize so you can find everything you need at your fingertips. Running around looking for items brings chaos and frustration.
3. Clean up your space - Now that your stuff is all organized, shine up the room around it. Make your space clean and neat and beautiful, just like you!
4. Sustain the organization - Put things back where you found them and keep a regular cleaning schedule. Maintaining is a lot easier than going through this process again.
Start now. Don't think about it, just start. Pick something easy. When you're finished look at what you've accomplished and ask yourself, "How does that make you feel?" Pick another project and start again. You'll be de-cluttered before you know it!
